    August 1: Saturday activities
    PicturePoas Volcano crater

For those of you arriving on Friday, there are a few options for Saturday – I will need to hear from you about your choice by July 17.  Please use the drop down menu below to let me know your choice:

Morning option A: Participating in Shabbat services in the orthodox synagogue

This morning you have the possibility of visiting Centro Israelita, the main Jewish community center and orthodox synagogue. Unlike the Friday night services with the liberal community, these services are led in Spanish. The service is followed by a community Shabbat lunch.

Morning option B: Poas volcano day trip!

The Poas Volcano, a National Park, reaches to the height of 2,300 meters above sea level. It is an active volcano with a beautiful blue crater lake at its summit, located amidst alpine cloud forest.  After getting to the park early, visiting the summit and (weather permitting) viewing the active and dormant craters, you will visit the Doka Estate, a coffee plantation, where your guide will explain a bit about the coffee crop, its cycle and its importance to Costa Rica.

Pick up from hotel: 7:30 am, after breakfst. Return - about 1:30.

Cost: $62 per person, and includes: Transportation, a bilingual driver/guide, entrance fee to the National Park, short visit to coffee plantation. You will be able to pay for this day trip before you leave for Costa Rica.

Bring: comfortable walking shoes (tennis or hiking) and a windbreaker or light rain jacket.

Morning option C: Chill by the hotel pool/explore San Jose

You might just want to rest by the pool in the hotel, take it easy, or go explore some of what San Jose has to offer - markets, museums and parks.
You can also choose to walk to Sabana Park, the largest urban park in Costa Rica, which is close to the hotel, where the locals will be busy with weekend recreational activities.

    Afternoon:

During the afternoon, we will be able to explore San Jose together, on a guided walking tour (given by an experienced local guide) that will leave from the hotel after lunch. The walk will include some of the main attractions, such as the Plaza De La Cultura, the National Theater, as well as an introduction to Costa Rica.

In the evening we will be meeting
the rest of the group arriving on Saturday, and after Havdalla, we will had out for dinner/drinks/dancing downtown.

Please let us know below what you want to do on Saturday morning:
